Frequently Asked Questions About Almond Firewood
Why Choose Almond Firewood?
Almond Firewood is seasoned hardwood from California almond orchards, ideal for heating, outdoor cooking, smoking meats, pizza ovens, fire pits, rotisseries, and camping. It produces substantial heat and is a versatile choice for both heating and cooking.
Is Almond Firewood Good for Cooking?
Yes. Seasoned Almond Firewood produces high, consistent heat for wood-fired cooking. It is well suited for pizza ovens, outdoor cooking, offset smokers, kamado-style cookers, rotisseries, backyard fire pits, and camping. Why Use Seasoned Almond Firewood in a Wood-Fired Pizza Oven?
Seasoned Almond Firewood is an excellent choice for wood-fired pizza ovens because it produces high heat for fast, high-temperature cooking. With the right oven and proper firing technique, temperatures can reach up to approximately 800°F, allowing pizzas to finish in about two minutes. How Much Almond Firewood Do I Need for a Camping Trip?
For a typical 3- to 4-day camping trip, a ¼ cord of Almond Firewood may be sufficient for evening campfires, cooking, and morning fires. Your actual usage will depend on the size and frequency of your fires and the number of people in your group. For longer camping trips, a ½ cord or more may be appropriate.
How Long Will a Full Cord of Almond Firewood Last?
How long a full cord lasts depends on how frequently you burn. For occasional fireplace use, a full cord may last approximately two months. Wood stove and insert customers may average approximately three months. Commercial cooking operations generally use larger quantities because Almond Firewood is burned more frequently.
If storage space is limited, contact us to discuss delivery options. You may also consider a ¾ cord or ½ cord as a starting point.
Do I Need to Season My Pizza Oven Before Using It?
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your specific pizza oven. Some new wood-fired ovens require an initial curing process to gradually remove moisture and prepare the oven for high-temperature cooking. Let us know when ordering if you need Almond Firewood for your oven's initial curing process. Our Pizza Splits work well for this purpose.
Where Should I Store My Almond Firewood?
Store Almond Firewood in a dry, well-ventilated location, preferably elevated off the ground and protected from prolonged exposure to rain and moisture. Good airflow helps keep seasoned Almond Firewood dry and ready to burn.
